Ballot order draw event to be held on December 11, 2019 for the Presidential Preference Election
PHOENIX – The Secretary of State’s Office is hosting an event on Wednesday, Dec. 11 to determine the order the Presidential Preference Election candidates will appear on the ballot.
The ballot order draw event is being conducted pursuant to ARS 16-245B, which states that the order of the names of certified candidates on the ballot shall be determined by lots drawn at a public meeting called by the secretary of state.
The only political party participating in the 2020 PPE is the Democratic Party, therefore only candidates from the Democratic Party will appear on the PPE ballot. In addition, only voters registered with the Democratic Party by the voter registration deadline of Feb. 18, 2020 will be eligible to vote in the 2020 PPE.
The event will be held at the Historic Supreme Court, and will be broadcast on Facebook Live: www.fb.com/SecretaryHobbs/.
“We are just three months away from the PPE, and we want to keep voters informed about what steps we are taking to prepare,” Secretary Katie Hobbs said. “We are excited to share this part of the election process with the public.”
